My name is Maxwell Friedman and I am a director, producer, and writer who is passionate about creating compelling multidisciplinary work. I am currently part of Little Island's Artistic Department, where I serve as the General Manager.

Presenting progressive art is essential, as well as revolutionizing the systems that have perpetrated harm backstage and in our office spaces. Throughout my career, I have sought out a variety of positions, trainings, and experiences so that I can  be an artistic leader able to meet people where they are and establish a shared language. Prior to joining Little Island, I had a five year career at the Public Theater, where I created the position of Manager of Designer Relations.

 As a nonbinary storyteller, I love working on complex pieces that are inclusive of queer characters and narratives. Whether working with professionals or students, I encourage creativity and collaboration in order to present something that is composed of a variety of perspectives and provokes conversation.
